Eyelid Surgery

The area surrounding the eyes is one of the first to show the signs of facial aging. Eyelid surgery corrects the sagging upper eyelids as well as the bags that form below the eyes.

The surgery begins by making the incisions along the natural creases of the upper eyelids and/or directly below the lower eyelashes. The skin is separated from the underlying tissue and the excess fat is then removed or repositioned. The eyelid muscle is sometimes tightened. The eyelid skin is then replaced and a fine plastic closure is performed on the incisions. On some patients the lower eyelid fat may be removed from the inside (transconjucntival blepharoplasty).

Eyelid surgery can create a smoother, natural and more youthful look for your eyes. The procedure takes about one hour and can be performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient.
